Four Leaf Wedding: Cory & Lauren

Meet Cory and Lauren:  a beautiful, loving, fun couple who simply adore each other!  They were married on September 4th at the fantastic Indianapolis Art Center in Broad Ripple.  Being a lover of anything Vera Bradley and nautical, the bride was able to incorporate those styles into every detail.  The end results was a classy yet colorful wedding with loads of personality.  Ashley Nacke Photography shot such amazing photos of everything that I could have posted them all!

The yellow rose bouquets by Bella's Blooms added a colorful pop that brought together both looks.

Even though the questionable weather forced us to move the ceremony indoors, the wedding was beautiful and intimate.  Indianapolis Art Center offers a great variety of backup plans if rain is in the forecast.

The couple had a "Bucket List" album where each guest wrote a unique date suggestion, marriage advice, fun place to visit in Indianapolis, etc.  They then placed that card in one of the dated envelopes.  Lauren and Cory will open one each day on the corresponding day for their first year of marriage!

Taste of Congo and World Cuisine's Jose Lusende and team not only served up unique and savory hors d'oeuvres, but were hilarious motivators during the evening's clean up!  Cake My Day created one dreamy dessert bar that was a giant hit.  The bride and groom chose to cut a pie instead of a traditional cake, because "Why would you eat cake when you can have pie?" -Cory Schneider.

I loved working with this bride and mother of the bride combo!  A great team makes the planning process much more fun.  Thanks, ladies!  Let's do it again...

Wardrobe Change = more reasons for bride to get down and boogie!  I love this classy end of the night dress that Lauren magically appeared in to show off her dance moves.  DJ Alex Anglin kept the party going an extra 30 minutes for the happy couple and their guests!

Congratulations, Cory and Lauren!!!  Enjoy your new life together and may God send many little blessings your way...

A Well-Dressed Wedding: Bridesmaids

It has almost been six months since the Royal Wedding and we are going through royal withdraw!  Looking back through pictures, one can't help but notice how well-dressed everyone was and remember the Pippa Middleton craze.  Pippa certainly made an impression around the globe and some even argue that Kate was overshadowed by her sister's knockout dress (blasphemy!).  Aside from her gorgeous physique, what is it about Pippa's look that made it an instant coveted classic?  Two things:  the modest, yet feminine shape and the ivory color.

THE REPLICAS

There are plenty of copy-cat dresses available out there at stores like Macys for reasonable prices.  And while these dresses are so pretty, we encourage brides to be inspired by weddings like Will and Kate's, not mimic them exactly.  However, Pippa's dress would make a lovely dress for a bride at a simple countryside wedding, don't you think?

THE SHAPE

If you want your maids to have Pippa's look, but you are not down with someone else wearing white on your wedding day, then take cues from the dress style but in a different color.  Do away with strapless, halters, spaghetti straps, sleeveless and choose a dress with a cap sleeve or even an off-the-shoulder cap sleeve.  If your bridesmaids are not comfortable with a form-fitting gown, try a tailored look like The Dessy Group dress.

THE COLOR

For smaller bridal parties, we love the idea of having the gals wear ivory.  Choose a fabric that is going to make the color look rich and perhaps slightly off from the bride's dress.  Stick to a less traditional bridal dress style and keep all of the maids' dresses the same.  Accent the bridesmaids with an embellish belt or colored bouquets to allow you to remain distinct as the bride.  This dress from The Limited (on sale for $99!) would be a perfect look for your royal-inspired bridal party.

Four Leaf Wedding: Umut & Melissa

We thought everyone could use a taste of summer lovin' on this chilly day, and this is the perfect couple to make you feel warm and cozy!

Melissa and Umut were married this year on June 17th on a perfect summer day in downtown Indianapolis.  The college sweethearts wed in the gorgeous Indiana State House before moving the celebration to the Dolphin Gallery at the Indianapolis Zoo.  The day began with photos around the brand new JW Marriott with Heather Doyle of Markus Rae Photography.  Jason and Leah of AMS Entertainment provided the music for both ceremony and reception while Centerplate created some tasty and unique food options for their guests.

Since Umut and his family are from Turkey, Melissa wanted to incorporate as much Turkish touches as possible.  The tulip bouquets made by her mother are a nod to the flower prominently grown in Turkey.  Melissa also incorporated the color turquoise (Turkish stone) in several details throughout the day as well as Turkish "evil eye" beads to keep the haters away from their special day. =)  Umut's mother provided stunning, intricately beaded overlays from Turkey for the tables (and she let me take one home at the end of the night!).  Bosphurus Cafe opened up their doors and treated us all to fantastic Turkish cuisine for the rehearsal dinner.  I highly recommend making a visit to their downtown Indianapolis restaurant.

This groom is such a romantic that he kept their honeymoon plans a secret from everyone, even his bride!  I love this gesture of a man whisking his new wife away to a secret location where no one knows where to find them.  And despite Umut jokingly insisting they were headed to the Vatican City, Melissa got her dream tropical honeymoon.

With a couple as international as Umut and Melissa, the luggage tag placecards made by Four Leaf Events were very fitting.  And when AMS Entertainment cranked up the Turkish music, all of the cultures in the room were able to enjoy and appreciate the groom's home country!

To Umut and Melissa and the Barbs and the Tugsals, thank you for being such gracious, joyful, and all around lovely clients.  I had so much fun working with you all!

Congratulations to Melissa and Umut!!!  I wish you both a lifetime of adventures and happiness together...

It's A Girl: Anna's Baby Shower

My cousin Anna is having a baby girl!!!  And, of course, my sisters and I, along with our mother, could not have been more thrilled to throw her an all pink baby shower!

Branding expert Loretta Hoover designed the invitations, flags, coasters, and other coordinating printed materials.  Paddi Cakes created the most delicious white almond vanilla and pink chocolate fudge cake pops, while Just Pop In supplied the strawberry and vanilla popcorn- yum!  Four Leaf Events' own Jaimee Dee was kind enough to share her talents and be our photographer for the day.

One of my favorite touches were the small bags of popcorn containing a different magnetized prayer request were passed out to remind the guests to keep them in their prayers "Before Anna Pops."

No baby shower is complete without a homemade diaper cake.  This one made by my sister was so personalized and adorable!

After a silly game of undressing and changing the baby doll's diaper while wearing oven mitts and an apron (a twist on a family Christmas game), my oldest sister presented a touching devotional about life as a parent.  When hosting a shower it is best to keep the details a personalized as possible.  After all, the purpose of a shower is to celebrate that person's next step in life, so why not focus the details around that person and their style!

I had to share these shots of my adorable nieces who were both big helps as mini hostesses for the shower.  Being an aunt is the greatest!

Congratulations to Anna & Kedric on their baby girl arriving very soon in September!  We cannot wait to meet her!
